2013 Live Oak Artist- Janet Allenspach
Janet Allenspach is a local artist and longtime volunteer at Live Oak. She lives in Los Osos, having moved from Cambria several years ago. She is Program Coordinator for CAPSLO’s Liberty Tattoo Removal Program, a non-profit that helps remove anti-social and gang related tattoos to assist people in finding employment and changing their lives positively.
Janet received her degree in Photography plus studied Painting and Printmaking at Sonoma State University. She incorporates Aboriginal symbolism in her imagery and often paints endangered species to educate the public on what they can do to help. This painting of a live oak tree, spreading its branches to protect and comfort us, set against the Milky Way, portrays community spirit and the roots show the grounding that comes from being surrounded by like-minded souls enjoying Nature, Music and Art.
