2011 Live Oak Music Festival Artwork

by local artist Chris Pedersen

About the Artist

A mostly self-taught artist, Chris Pedersen describes his painting style as "simplified surrealism" and says his goal with this piece was to keep it fun and colorful, as these are the attributes he most associates with the Live Oak Music Festival. This acrylic and oil painting depicts musicians camping and jamming in the dappled shade of an oak tree in the bucolic Santa Ynez Valley and incorporates the Festival's popular "Peace. Love. Dirt." tag line.

After hearing about Live Oak from friends, Chris attended for the first time about seven years ago, exhibiting artwork with his business partner Charlie Clingman. Together, they own Forever Stoked, a company that specializes in reproducing and marketing artwork from a select crew of talented creatives. What keeps Chris coming back to Live Oak year after year are the "awesome people," the camping, and the informal, spontaneous music in the campground.
