Live Oak

Fest 101: Orientation

A Checklist of Things to Bring (hope this helps)

  • Bug Repellent
  • Open Mind
  • Sleeping Bag & Tent
  • Food, Cooler & Stove
  • Summer Clothes - It gets quite warm dancing in the sun all day!
  • Cool-Night Clothing - For evenings.
  • Towels & Bath Stuff - Yes, Live Oak has warm showers!
  • Your Dancin' Shoes!
  • Low-Back Chairs - For the seating area (less than 30" high Ð see notes on Audience Area Seating below).
  • An extra chair or two - To have back at camp (since you will be leaving your low-back chair in the Audience Seating Area during the day.)
  • Folding Camp Table - For camping in style...
  • Flowers, Ribbons, Balloons - And anything else to help make your campsite look fun and festive! This is a festival, after all!
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen - And don't forget to use it on yourself, friends and especially kids during the festival!
  • Water Squirt-Bottles - Blessed (and popular) be those who bring a big one of these into the seating area to cool themselves and neighbors during the early afternoon concerts!
  • Plastic Containers & Cups for Drinks in Stage Area -- You may drink what you like in the Stage Area, so long as you don't do it out of a glass container.
  • Musical Instruments - Live Oak encourages everyone to bring their instruments to create their own music in the campground. Please, absolutely no amplified instruments (or banjos), and remember to be considerate of your campground neighbors! Just kidding about the banjos.
  • Flashlight / Lantern / Penlight - So you can find your way (and your stuff) in the dark. Why the pen-light? Consider stringing one of these around you neck if you want to be able to see inside of the portable toilets after dark.
  • Hiking Footwear
  • Carefree Attitude
  • Precycled Garbage - What's that, you say? Increasing amounts of trash and recyclables left at Live Oak are cutting into the proceeds raised for Public Radio KCBX. The idea is to bring food and liquids in reusable as opposed to disposable containers. Think kegs, not bottles.
  • An FM Radio w/ batteries - To catch aKORN Radio broadcast of Mainstage music as well as other great music, insightful commentary and useful information.
  • Any other great ideas that should go here... let us know!

A Checklist of Things to Leave at Home

  • Pets - No pets of any kind are permitted in Live Oak Camp.
  • Amplified Musical Instruments - Acoustic, yes! Amplified- no.
  • Generators - too noisy.
  • As much Trash and even recyclables as possible (see "precycling" above).
