Bombino

North African Desert Rock

Grammy-nominated virtuoso guitarist Bombino was dubbed "the Sultan of Shred" by the New York Times last year, a nickname that has since been adopted around the world. Bombino was born in Niger in an encampment of nomadic Tuaregs, recognized as warriors, traders and travelers of the Sahara Desert. Four thousand years of living in a hostile environment taught the Tuareg people that the will to survive with dignity intact is stronger than any external threat.  Bombino puts that sentiment to music, writes its anthem, and gives it a life of its own.  He is emblematic of the next generation of Tuareg, a new voice of the Sahara and Sahel, fusing blues and traditional Berber rhythms with the energy of rock and roll and songs about peace.

John Craigie

Americana Singer-Songwriter

Renowned for his eloquent Americana style, engaging live shows, and off-the-cuff clever observations, John Craigie carries on the legacy of classic singer-songwriters, while blazing a trail of his own. The Stranger appropriately dubbed Craigie, “the lovechild of John Prine and Mitch Hedberg, with a vagabond troubadour edge.” When Craigie plays, it’s one of those special shows that can make you laugh and cry in the same song.

The Sons of the Soul Revivers

Traditional Gospel

The Sons of the Soul Revivers, a San Francisco-based gospel quartet, was formed in 1970 by three brothers to carry on the work of their father’s original Soul Revivers from the 1960s. The brothers, guitarist/singer Walter Morgan Sr., and singers James and Dwayne Morgan, have spent a lifetime of singing in church together and, with their band, present hand-clapping, soul-reviving traditional gospel music that will lift your spirit.

“I was captivated from the first note to the very last. Incredible. I couldn’t stop moving and neither could the audience. SSR’s had EVERYONE on their feet, moving, their entire set. They took us to church and then some.” --Erika Olsen | Asst. Artistic Director, Waterfront Blues Festival, Portland, OR

The Ghost of Paul Revere

Foot-Stompin’ Holler Folk

"We grew up listening to Radiohead and the Beatles and Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd," says Griffin Sherry, guitarist/singer in The Ghost Of Paul Revere. "Everyone assumed we were a bluegrass band because we were playing these traditional instruments, but we weren’t writing traditional music. We were just writing songs with the instruments we had."  The result is a sound that the Portland, Maine-based band describes as "holler folk," not because it involves a lot of hollering, per se, but because it invokes the rich communal tradition of field hollers, with their call-and-response melodies, sing-along hooks, and densely layered harmonies.

Chris Beland and Harmony

Father-Daughter Singer-songwriters

Acclaimed singer-songwriter Chris Beland has played at major music festivals around the U.S. and is now a local favorite. His 13-year-old daughter Harmony has a powerhouse voice with an Etta James-esque range that weaves perfectly through songs she co-writes with her dad. Their synergistic vocals are accompanied by the seasoned strum of an acoustic guitar, the twang of a harmonica, and the steady heartbeat of a kick drum. A top choice in a competition for Santa Barbara County’s best musician, prolific songwriter Chris Beland creates what he calls “honest music” influenced by performers such as Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, Vance Joy, and Josh Ritter.

The Cimo Brothers

Folky Classical World Rock

Daniel, Vincent, and Jack Cimo are musicians local to the central coast of California. Originally from Chicago, blues and jazz run through their veins. Between the three brothers, they span a wide variety of musical genres. Each brother has focused on a different instrument: Daniel on violin, Vince on acoustic guitar, and Jack on Spanish guitar. All three of them grew up studying classical music, which heavily influences their music today. Although they enjoy performing acoustically, they also experiment by blending their acoustic sound with a more modern digital sound, utilizing synthesizers, beats, and music sequencing. The Cimo Brothers promise to bring an unforgettable musical experience!
