Sunny War

Blues Folk Punk

Sunny War was born Sydney Lyndella Ward in Nashville and grew up in Los Angeles’ punk scene. She was hopping trains and living homeless on the streets from a tender age. Her music has always been raw, and she refuses to shy away from a brutally open honesty about the rougher parts of her life. Her songs blend blues, folk and punk into a powerful, emotional amalgam that cuts deeply into the hearts and minds of her listeners. LA Weekly says, "To call War a striking talent would be a drastic understatement. Her dazzling, mutant finger-picking style, born of the blues and claw hammer banjo, conjures a luscious blur of rolling rhythm and rich riff flurries bristling atop every note struck.”

Shook Twins

Indie Folk Pop

Identical twins Katelyn and Laurie Shook and their band create indie folk pop that is imbued with warm energy, joy, affirmation, and gorgeous harmonies. Along with the more traditional guitar, banjo and percussion, these multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriters use imaginative techniques and unusual instruments to set their sound apart – including electronics, beat boxing, looping, a re-purposed telephone microphone, and glockenspiel. Since the band’s inception in 2004, they have attracted critical acclaim from the likes of USA Today, Paste Magazine, The Lumineers, and Langhorne Slim. Best-selling author Neil Gaiman says of the Shook Twins, “They make music that twines through your soul the way vines cover an abandoned shack in the woods.”
