What Makes Live Oak Different
Live Oak is more than a music festival—it’s a community gathering. Families attend together, volunteers power every part of the event, and the atmosphere is welcoming and inclusive. With its diverse musical programming and relaxed pace, Live Oak offers a festival experience that feels both intimate and expansive.
Family and Activities
Live Oak is designed with families in mind. A dedicated kids area offers crafts, games, and activities, while workshops and participatory events invite attendees of all ages to get involved. From talent shows to hands-on learning, there are opportunities for everyone to take part.
The Experience
While music is at the heart of Live Oak, beyond the music, the festival comes alive through shared experiences—campground jams, late-night sets, and spontaneous collaborations. Days are filled with opportunities to slow down, whether through yoga sessions, hands-on workshops, or simply enjoying the Central Coast environment.
Food, Drink and Marketplace
A variety of food vendors and food trucks offer options for every taste, alongside beer, wine, and other refreshments. The artisan marketplace features local makers and craftspeople, while the ArtWalk highlights live art and interactive creative experiences throughout the weekend.
Camping and Venue
Set within El Chorro Regional Park, the festival grounds offer open space, scenic hills, and a comfortable environment to relax between sets. Camping is a central part of the Live Oak experience. Staying on-site allows you to fully immerse yourself in the rhythm of the weekend, from morning coffee to late-night music. If you can’t camp with us for the full weekend, we welcome you to join us for a single day…or three!”
Location and Getting Here
Live Oak Music Festival takes place at El Chorro Regional Park in San Luis Obispo, California, along the Central Coast. The location sits roughly halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco, making it an easy weekend destination from either direction.
Mission/Beneficiary
The mission of the Live Oak Music Festival is to annually transform a patch of dirt into a magical experience celebrating family, community and diversity of music in the spirit of its beneficiary, KCBX Public Radio.
KCBX presents music, news, cultural, and community programming throughout the Central Coast. By attending Live Oak, you’re helping sustain independent media, news, and arts initiatives that enrich the region year-round.
